About Wild Chorus

Wild Chorus is a relaxed and friendly performance choir, for singers with some experience, and who are looking for a fun vocal challenge with like-minded singers. The emphasis is on having fun making a good sound together, singing material from rock, pop and folk traditions from around the world. You're expected to be able to:

  • Commit to weekly rehearsal and personal practice in order to learn repertoire

  • Adjust your voice to blend with the group

  • Sing confidently and accurately

  • Follow a musical score

During weekly rehearsals, we warm our bodies and voices up, and learn songs to perform as well as simply singing for pleasure. We learn repertoire mainly by ear, although lyrics, scores and rehearsal MP3s are all available to help you learn. You don’t need to be able to ‘sight read’ notation, but you do need to be able (or willing to learn!) to follow it.

We also have a lyric book of some of our favourite songs available for free download if you want to join in with songs at public events.

Fees

Fees are on a sliding scale based on your circumstances, and a discount is available if you pay for the term. We haven’t put session prices up for a few years, despite venue costs increasing, as we know times are tough. If you’re fortunate enough to be in a position of financial security, please do consider paying more than the suggested amounts, as this helps us to keep prices down for people less able to pay more.

There are 10 sessions in this term, so the suggested termly fees are:

  • £62 - £100 working full-time (£31 - £50 half term)

  • £49 - £70 retired / working part-time (£25 - £35 half term)

  • £22 in receipt of benefits (£11 half term)

  • £negotiable if you're facing financial hardship (see below)

If you’re paying by BACS, there are no transaction fees - if you’re paying by Zettle or website a 4% transaction fee is added.

Don't let cost be a barrier - especially if you need some flexibility because of your current situation, please let us know - we're happy to accept instalments, or offer sessions for free until you're back on your feet - we appreciate the challenges some people are currently facing.
